When my first daughter was born, a very good friend brought her a set of wooden letters spelling out her name – Elizabeth. I absolutely loved them and it was wonderful to see her name ‘up in lights’ so to speak.
As my family grew, I gave up my full-time job to look after my children, and spent countless hours immersed in creative activities. We had tables filled with crayons, paints, glitter, paper, salt dough, clay – we had a go at all things arty and crafty.
Leaving the children to happily create, I got on with more serious designing, often being asked by family and friends to paint something special. I set about designing a set of pictures especially to commemorate births and christenings.
After exhibiting at the British Craft Fair in Harrogate, my customer base grew and I was soon taking orders from some of the most exclusive and beautiful baby and gift shops nationwide. I also began designing for other special occasions, from weddings to graduations and retirements.
Over the years I moved onto working with large pieces of floral, botanical and abstract paintings. We also ran a successful greeting card company supplying many card and gift shops throughout the country
And, more recently, with my now-grown-up daughter I have developed a vintage china hire company, Bridget and Betty, providing all things vintage. We supply tea sets, cake stands, picnic baskets, typewriters and bunting to create an atmosphere of bygone times and add that extra-special touch to your special celebrations.
